Abe and Lizzie Daily Park, 4026 Nails Rd, Simonton, TX 77476, spans nearly 100 acres of serene nature preserve and open space, providing a haven for families and youngsters alike.
Dr. Harold Daily, a native of Simonton, fulfilled his dream by donating the land to honor his parents. His vision was simple: create a place where children of all abilities can play, featuring playgrounds, baseball diamonds, and fields for soccer and football.
In 2016, Dr. Daily's generous donation of 70 acres to Fort Bend County paved the way for the park's development. Under the direction of Darren McCarthy, Fort Bend County Parks Director, the facility evolved into a premier destination. Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers led the park's dedication on October 6, 2018; he guided additional funding through a 2020 voter-approved parks bond totaling $2 million.
Today, visitors to Daily Park enjoy ample amenities, including a covered pavilion with picnic tables, seating for 126, restrooms, and barbecue pits.
Paved roads lead through the park to a picturesque lake, while 40 acres near the Brazos River remain preserved for nature enthusiasts.
When Daily Park hosted its first baseball game, Dr. Daily, who was 96, threw the inaugural pitch and celebrated alongside the community.
Looking ahead, Daily Park aims to blend sports facilities with natural conservation efforts. Commissioner Vincent Morales Jr. envisions Daily Park as a hub for recreation and education, leveraging its proximity to the river and natural landscapes.
