KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – Evan Lyndell Parker, 34, has been captured, arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault in connections with an attack that happened in Brookshire on Wednesday night. He was arrested after a short standoff early Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex on South Parkview Drive in Katy/Harris County. The apartment complex is located off Barker Cypress Road between Saums Road and Park Row Drive.
We have also learned that the man who was murdered was the father of a City of Katy Police Officer.
“There were no injuries reported,” said a statement from the Waller County Sheriff’s Office following the arrest. “Agencies assisting in the arrest were Waller County Sheriff’s Office CID Investigators, Texas Rangers, Katy Police Department, Harris County Constables Office Pct # 5, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S Marshall’s.”
The hunt for Parker began Wednesday night after the Waller County Sheriff’s Office responded to Orizon Industries located at 7007 FM 362. Two employees had been stabbed. Harry Parnell, 64, a nightshift supervisor, died at the scene. Jose Rangel, 36, was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he was listed in critical condition late Thursday morning.

“Our hearts are heavy as one of our own, Officer Parnell lost his father in a senseless act of violence last night,” said a statement from KPD. “We are praying for the Parnell family, Jose Rangel and everyone involved as the healing process begins. We pray for justice to be served now that Evan Lyndell Parker is in custody.”
Prior to this incident, Parker had compiled an extensive criminal history of aggravated robbery, assault, resisting arrest and aggravated assault against a public servant.
