KATY (Covering Katy News) – The first day to file to run for Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees was Wednesday, January 16, 2019, and Katy ISD critic Sean Dolan, 34, and incumbent board member Rebecca Fox, 61, were the first to file.
As expected Dolan selected to run in Position 1 which is currently held by George Scott. Scott has not said if he will be running for re-election.
Dolan listed his occupation as CEO of a Katy Based social media/internet marketing company but is perhaps best known for leading the effort to force Dr. Lance Hindt to resign as Katy ISD Superintendent of Schools. When Hindt resigned he said that social media was weaponized against his wife and daughter with vile sexually based messages that would not stop. He said the attacks made it impossible for him to continue his duties as superintendent while watching his wife and daughter under constant attack.

That was not the only time that Dolan’s organization is accused of weaponizing social media to attack women. A very close Dolan supporter used Facebook to release the driver’s license number, home address, and make model and year of the vehicle driven by the wife of Covering Katy’s publisher. The attacker, a two-time felon, said she planned to release much more personal information but was scared off after law enforcement immediately became involved and when there was a social media backlash from people who were appalled by the attack. She publically stated that she carried out the attack because Allison Spellman was listed as the Vice President on the corporate documents of Covering Katy, LLC.
Mrs. Spellman, who has never been involved in the daily operations of Covering Katy, subsequently wrote an article in support of Mrs. Hindt, a Katy ISD teacher, titled An Open letter to Mrs. Hindt.
Incumbent Fox is defending her Position 2 seat which she’s held since 2004. She is currently the longest-serving member on the board. Fox listed her occupation as a motivational speaker.
She has held every board position at least once. She has been board president twice.
Fox holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer and Family Science from Southeastern Louisiana University.
