KATY/AUSTIN (Covering Katy News) – The 2018 election is said to be the most widely watched midterm election ever, and Covering Katy is making it easy to sift through a long list of results and pair it down to the local races that you care about. Covering Katy is partnering with The Texas Tribune to provide speedy and accurate election returns.
Here is how it works: Reporters in the Covering Katy newsroom will follow the local races, such as the long list of candidates running for district judge positions. Reporters in The Texas Tribune’s Austin newsroom will follow the statewide returns, races like Cruz vs. O’Rourke. When the Tribune posts their returns, that same information will instantly and automatically post on CoveringKaty.com.
“We’re thrilled to be working with one of the largest independent news publishers in the United States, The Texas Tribune, on Election Day 2018,” said Covering Katy publisher Dennis Spellman. “It takes a large effort to tabulate the results from the statewide races, and The Texas Tribune will provide that service for our readers. This leaves our reporters free to focus on the local races,” Spellman said.
In the past Covering Katy has put its election returns on its Facebook page. Tonight it will be on the homepage of CoveringKaty.com.
