CITY OF KATY, Texas (Covering Katy News)—Former Katy City Council Member-at-Large and Mayor Pro Tem Chris Harris has joined the Katy Area Economic Development Council as membership coordinator, where he will focus on business retention and work with federal and state representatives to advance regional mobility initiatives.
Harris was also appointed by Mayor Dusty Thiele and the Katy City Council to serve on the Village at Katy Development District board. He also serves on the boards of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy and the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce.
He served on the Katy City Council from 2018 to May 2026, including seven years as mayor pro tem.
Harris and his wife, Danielle, a Katy native and educator, are licensed foster parents. They have five children and one grandchild.
Harris serves as a lay servant leader at Katy First United Methodist Church and is a lifetime member of the Katy Heritage Society. He has been nominated as Volunteer of the Year at Katy Elementary School and was recognized for compiling an eight-year record of perfect attendance at Katy City Council meetings.
