SUGAR LAND, TX - (Covering Katy News) – Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land, in collaboration with the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center (FBCDC), wrapped up its Summer Educational Series with a vibrant and engaging Clifford-themed event on July 30. The occasion not only celebrated the release of the new book, Clifford Takes a Drive, but also emphasized driving safety through a variety of interactive activities.
“The Summer Education Series offers a fantastic platform to address driving safety in a way that resonates with children and their families," noted Derek Brown, Vice President of Marketing at Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land. "Utilizing a beloved character like Clifford allows us to make important lessons more memorable and impactful, especially in the fun and educational setting of the FBCDC.”
The event featured a special reading of Clifford Takes a Drive, a collaborative release by Scholastic and Mercedes-Benz USA, which underscores the significance of passenger safety. Attendees also engaged in hands-on learning at an interactive education station focused on seat belt use. Following the reading, children enjoyed a variety of Clifford-themed activities, including crafting their own Clifford dog ears, getting face painted, and participating in car safety demonstrations.
“Teaming up with Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land for this event aligns perfectly with our goal of delivering meaningful and educational experiences to children,” said Tracy Golden, Chief Development Officer at the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center. “It’s wonderful to see the community come together to learn about driving safety in such a dynamic and enjoyable way.”
Guests had the opportunity to explore the FBCDC, adding to the day's excitement. Each child went home with a copy of Clifford Takes a Drive, a Clifford plush toy, a Clifford-themed t-shirt, and a Clifford cookie, making the event both educational and memorable.
This event marked the conclusion of Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land’s Summer Education Series, which has also featured stories like the historic first summer road trip of automotive pioneer Bertha Benz. The initiative underscores the dealership’s commitment to community engagement and the promotion of driving safety.
