YMCA Turkey Dash Set for Thanksgiving Morning

Last year’s Turkey Dash

KATY (Covering Katy News) – It would not be Thanksgiving in Katy without the Turkey Dash at the Monty Ballard YMCA in Cinco Ranch.  Motorists will want to be on the lookout for runners and walkers on the route which starts at South Peek Road at Westheimer Parkway. They will travel south to the Westpark Tollway feeder Road, head east to South Mason Road where runners will turn north until they get to Westheimer Parkway. They will head west to the finish line less than a mile away.

About 6,000 spectators are expected along with 3,600 participants. Veteran and novice runner will have a good time taking part in a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Kids Race and 1 Mile Walk/Run. The Y will also have a great post-race party packed with food, giveaways, a photo booth, and a kids fun zone.

If you love to dress up for races, organizers encourage you to do so. Enter solo or as a group in the 5th annual costume contest with prizes awarded to the “Best Thanksgiving Theme” and “Most Unique Costume”.

Medals will be awarded to finishers of the kids’ race and 10k race.

All proceeds from the Katy Area YMCAs Turkey Dash go toward their Annual Campaign and help provide scholarships to programs such as child care, summer camps, swim lessons, sports leagues and assistance to various area outreach programs.

The presenting sponsor is Methodist West Hospital.
