Student Arrested with ‘Weapon’ at Mayde Creek High School

KATY (Covering Katy News) – A Mayde Creek High School student was arrested on the school’s campus for being in the possession of a weapon but Katy ISD is not revealing what type of weapon was brought to the school. The incident happened on Wednesday morning.

“This is all we can provide at this moment,” wrote Katy ISD spokesperson Maria DiPetta in response to Covering Katy’s request for more information.

“The item was discovered in the student’s backpack during an administrative search pertaining to another issue upon their arrival to school,” said a letter to parents, teachers, guardians and staff. The letter was from principal Ronnie Edwards and it was distributed the same day as the incident.

“We have contacted the student’s parents and are dealing with this issue in the proper manner, including appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the Katy ISD Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct,” the letter said.

Below is the complete letter from Edwards. It was provided to Covering Katy by Katy ISD.
