Still No Charges in Saums Road Fatal Accident

KATY (Covering Katy News) – A man who was apparently attempting to help a wild animal that had been hit by a passing vehicle was also struck by a sport utility vehicle and died.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. on Saums Road between Greenhouse Road and North Fry Road not far from Cullen Park on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.

Ulises Solis-Flores parked his Nissan truck on the shoulder of Saums Road. He walked into the eastbound lane and was struck by an oncoming Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“After the collision, the driver of the Jeep braked his vehicle and came to a stop in the center of the road,” the deputy’s report said.

The victim died at the scene, and investigators believe he was attempting to aid a wild animal that had been hit by a vehicle and lay dying in the road.

The case remains under investigation.
