Sleet Hits Katy and Cold Weather Continues

KATY (Covering Katy News) – AccuWeather is predicting nighttime temperatures in the 20s and 30s through Wednesday of next week in the Katy area. Thursday afternoon residents were shocked to see hail is some parts of Katy.

Pictures of hail were sent to Covering Katy News from readers who took photos near Highland Knolls Drive at Fry Road and Mason Road.

Readers also reported hail in Willowcreek Farms, portions of east Cinco Ranch and the area around Tompkins high school.

It was hailing by the mall at the Katy Freeway,” said Covering Katy reader Linda Garcia. “Now the temps dropped and it’s very windy,” she added. 

And the sun was shining at the same time,” remarked CK reader Carleen Naumann.

“It happened at 3:45.  I think it was really scary,” wrote Abir Moubayed.

Katy wasn’t the only place to see hail.

“It was hailing in Columbus this afternoon too,” wrote Barbara York.

Katy neighborhoods that did not experience hail had heavy rain and wind.
