CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News) – Three years ago Katy Independent School District Trustee Rebecca Fox did not have an opponent when she ran for re-election, but this year will be different. City of Katy resident Lance Redmon entered the race for Katy ISD school board position 2 on Thursday.
As of early Friday morning, the Katy ISD website had not yet been updated to reflect Redmon’s candidacy, but a campaign source told Covering Katy that Redmon filed his papers to run on Thursday afternoon.
Redmon will run against the longest-serving board member, but supporters are confident that he will still earn more votes than Fox. Incumbent Fox filed her papers to run for re-election on the first day of the filing period.
Covering Katy will update this story as more information becomes available.

Redmon’s entry into the race for school board means both open positions will be contested. Duke Keller and Sean Dolan are running for the position 1 seat being vacated by George Scott. Scott will not be running for re-election after serving one term.
Feb. 15, 2019, is the last day to file to run for school board. If more people file to run, Covering Katy will let you know.
