Pro Flood Control Bond Group to hold second public meeting in Katy

KATY (Covering Katy News) – A group that supports passage of the Harris County Flood Control bond is holding another meeting in Katy.

Harris County Commissioners Court has called a bond election for August 25, 2018. Registered voters in Harris County will be asked to approve $2.5 billion in bonds for flood risk reduction projects throughout the county.

The Harris County Flood Control Bond Barker Reservoir Community Meeting will take place August 1  from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Parkway Junior High, 21203 Highland Knolls, Katy, TX 77450.

“We encourage all attendees to bring questions and ideas to the Barker Reservoir Community Open House regarding the 2018 Harris County Flood Control District Bond Program,” said a press release distributed by the organization. “To prepare an effective flood damage reduction program for our region, community input is crucial. Historical knowledge of repeatedly flooded areas, local neighborhood drainage issue, it will all make a difference.”

The Barker Flood Prevention advocacy group leaders have met with the Harris County Flood Control District to learn more about the specifics of the projects being proposed for the area. The group haalso communicated a summary of its meeting via email and its Facebook Page.
