Pedestrian Killed on Barker Cypress – Identity Revealed

WEST HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – A pedestrian was killed on Barker Cypress Road early Monday morning after being struck by a Dodge pickup truck. The accident happened at about 2 a.m. The crash occurred near Canyon Cypress Courts, a short distance north of West Little York Road in the Katy area.

The victim is identified as Harley Davidson Carter, a white male. His date of birth was not provided.

“The pedestrian appeared to be in the left lane in the 6400 block of Barker Cypress,” said Sgt. Dashana Cheek-McNeal of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Carter was struck as the pickup was headed northbound. According to the sheriff’s office, he was walking in the northbound lane when he was hit by the truck.

“The driver did stop at the scene and there is no sign of impairment,” McNeal said. “He stopped right way and stayed at the scene.”

The motorist was briefly handcuffed and detained for questioning but it was determined that he was not impaired and early indications are that he was not at fault. He has not been charged.

According to the sheriff’s office report, a second motorist also stopped at the scene to help.
