KATY (Covering Katy News) – The Paetow Panthers will make their varsity football debut this fall. They’ve been placed in a travel-heavy athletic district in which fans around Southeast Texas can watch them play.
This morning, the University Interscholastic League, which oversees Texas high school sports, released its district alignment for the upcoming school year. Paetow will be in District 10-5A, Division II.
Other High Schools in the district include Bryan Rudder, Cleveland, College Station A&M Consolidated, Huntsville, Montgomery, Montgomery Lake Creek and Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated.
Paetow is the Katy Independent School District’s newest high school. It opened last fall.
The other seven Katy high schools – Cinco Ranch, Katy, Mayde Creek, Morton Ranch, Seven Lakes, Taylor and Tompkins – will remain in District 19-6A.
Each of these teams will play four non-district football games this fall.
The other team in District 19, Strake Jesuit, was moved to District 23-6A, which comprises the Alief-area schools.
The UIL designates schools with enrollments of 2,190 and above as Class 6A. Schools with enrollments of 1,150-2,189 are designated as Class 5A.
