Overnight Car Burglaries in Katy

Thieves steal a box from the trunk of an unlocked car on Grant Sequoia Lane.

KATY (Covering Katy News) – Thieves targeted vehicles in the Yorktown Oaks subdivision Thursday morning.  Judging by the time stamp on home surveillance video, they made their way through the neighborhood between 3:40 a.m. and 4 a.m. and targeted only unlocked vehicles.

The neighborhood is near West Little York and Greenhouse Road, just south of F.M. 529.

Two young men, possibly teenagers,  can be seen on video walking along Grant Sequoia Lane opening the doors on vehicles. Once inside one sedan, they opened the trunk, rummaged through it and carried off a box.

“They left the box. It was just paper,” a neighbor told Covering Katy.

One person who lives in the 18900 block of Grant Sequoia Lane filed a report with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

“At about 7 a.m. a man discovered a speaker and cash had been stolen from his vehicle,” said Tebbin Lewis of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who was victimized should call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
