KATY (Covering Katy News) – Giving Tuesday Katy is made up of 16 local nonprofit organizations that banded together on the nation’s largest cyber giving day and their efforts exceeded expectations by tens-of-thousands of dollars. The goal was to raise $10,000 and by early Tuesday evening more than $35,000 had been donated on GivingTuesdayKaty.org and all of the sources of revenue had not been tabulated.
“The Katy Community has really stepped up in giving to these 16 nonprofits that make Katy a great place to live,” said organizer Sarah Beaton.
Beaton expects that the total donations will exceed $50,000 once other sources of revenue are totaled, such as bids from a live auction held on Tuesday night, and sponsorship revenue.
Beaton spoke on camera with Covering Katy News and her comments are in the video above.
