Military Send-Off for Local Recruits set for August 5

KATY (Covering Katy News)  – A ceremony supporting our military recruits who are leaving for boot camp takes place at the Katy VFW 9182 on Sunday, August 5 at 2 p.m.  It’s called a TEAM send-off.  TEAM stands for Texans Embracing American’s Military.  It is a program developed to show encouragement and support to new military recruits.

New recruits from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines will all be participating in this celebration. One by one, a recruiter will step to the podium and announce the recruits name, introduce the family, and then announce where the recruit has chosen to enlist. The recruit will receive a token of appreciation from the community.

After the ceremony, the attendees will form a receiving line where all the recruits will receive applause, handshakes, and hugs. This should be a great opportunity to get emotional photographs and/or videos.

The Katy VFW hall is located at 6206 George Bush Drive in Katy.
