KATY, TX (KTRK) – Thieves stole mail from two Katy-area post office bins last Tuesday morning, according to a postal inspector.

A note from the postal inspector is taped onto a bin located on Fourth Street in Historic Katy. The note warns residents who use that outdoor bin to monitor their banking accounts closely.

“I think that’s bad because everybody sends important things during the holidays,” Andrew Pena said.

The postal inspector thinks the same mail thieves stole from another mail bin that same morning, located on Baker Road. The metal lock is broken on that mailbox, and the mail slot is covered with cardboard and tape.

  1. You are correct. The headline really speaks to the Katy area. For example, Cinco Ranch is not Katy either, it’s unincorporated Fort Bend County. I think if we wrote Barker, TX there would be a significant number of readers who did not know where we were talking about, although we did identify the post office as Barker, TX in the photo caption.
