Life Flight Called to Major Crash on the Katy Freeway

KATY (Covering Katy News) – One man is in serious condition after an 18-wheeler slammed into the rear of a Chevy pickup truck, driving it into and then over the retaining wall of the Katy Freeway near Barker Cypress Road.

The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Both trucks were in the westbound lanes.

The pickup truck driver’s name was not released. He was only described as a Hispanic male.

The driver of the big rig was not injured and police are attempting to determine what caused the accident.

HPD officers at the scene did not provide an interview.

The crash happened in the Katy area but is being investigated by the Houston Police because it happened in Houston’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.
