Katy Residents Donating to Florence Victims

KATY (Covering Katy News)  – The West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department is taking donations this weekend for the victims of Hurricane Florence. The station on Kingsland Boulevard, just west of South Mason is a collection site for donated items.

According to the fire department, during Harvey, their donation sites took in more than $2.5 million in donated items that were distributed to all regions of Texas, from Rockport to Beaumont.

“We received donations from across the Eastern Coast of the U.S. and now we want to show our Texas hospitality by returning the favor,” said a statement from the West I-10 VFD.

Donations will be collected at West I-10 VFD Fire Station# 1 at 22125 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, Texas 77450. The collections dates are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.  They are asking for new items only.

Suggested items are water, energy drinks, Gatorade or similar, protein bars, non-perishable food items, shampoo, laundry soap, body soap, tarps, duct tape, trash bags, hammers, pry bars, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, pet food, gloves, masks, etc.
