KATY (Covering Katy News) – An 18-year old Brookshire resident tells deputies that he was simply stuck in a traffic jam when a man who was driving behind him became enraged and started aggressively tailgating him. It scared the young man so much that he started recording the incident on video and it’s a good thing he did because what happened next is criminal.
Harris County Precinct 5 investigators have now obtained an arrest warrant for Randu Salgado, 43, of Katy who they say is the man pictured on video damaging the young man’s vehicle. According to court records, Salgado has since posted a $3,000 bond and he’s been released from custody.
“Salgado became enraged when he was unable to pass by in the emergency lane during a traffic jam on the afternoon of February 1,” said a statement from Precinct 5. “Salgado sped alongside the victim’s car and smashed his side view mirror with an unknown object.”
And it did not end with vandalism to the young man’s car.
“The two drivers exited at Barker Cypress Road and proceeded to a parking lot where Salgado, rather than exchanging information, punched the victim in the stomach and drove away. The victim also suffered a cut to his arm in the attack,” the statement said.
Now, Salgado faces charges of assault and criminal mischief.
