HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) – There was a complete roadway closure on State Highway 6 northbound at the Katy Freeway during the Friday morning commute. It was caused by a two-vehicle fatal accident at 3:20 a.m. Friday.

The crash did not impact the main lanes of the Katy Freeway or the main lanes of Highway 6 but the feeder road has detours. It happened at the Katy Freeway underpass.

The crash involved a car and a big-rig that was not hauling a trailer. The male driver of the car was killed.  There was only one person in the rig and one person in the car. The rig’s driver was heading eastbound on the I-10 feeder road according to investigators. The driver of the car was traveling northbound on Highway 6 at the time of the crash. Investigators are attempting to determine which vehicle ran the red light.

Houston Police are investigating and say the car must have been traveling at a high rate of speed given the damage that was done to the front of the rig.
