Democrats Win Big in Harris County even defeating popular County Judge Ed Emmett

HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – Harris County Democrats have won all 59 judicial races and knocked off popular, longtime County Judge Ed Emmett Tuesday night. Democrats also knocked off the Republican County Clerk and County Treasurer.

Emmett who led the county through numerous natural disasters conceded the race to Linda Hidalgo, 27, at 11 p.m.

Hidalgo is a graduate student and political novice who has never run for office. During the campaign, Emmett campaigned on his 10 years leading the county vs. Hidalgo’s lack of work experience.

Republican incumbent Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle was able to defeat Democrat Penny Shaw, but Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Mormon lost to Democratic challenger Adrian Garcia who had 50.39% of the vote. Garcia won by just 1,771 votes.
