Girl Recovering after Shooting in Katy

The shooting happened at Trinity Hunters Place.

KATY (Covering Katy News) – A 15 year-old girl is recovering after being shot in the chest by a 15 year-old boy late Friday night. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office believes it was a mistake.

The girl was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston’s Medical Center where she is expected to survive. She was in serious condition at the time she was transported.

Deputies responded at about 11:30 Friday night to the Trinity Hunters Place mobile home park at 2800 Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road.

Detectives say a 15-year-old boy was showing off the gun to people inside the home when it went off.

The boy was detained and questioned. It’s not yet known if any charges will be filed against him.  It was also unclear if there were any parents at home when the incident happened.

The girl is expected to survive.
