George Bush Park Fills with Water but Westheimer Parkway Remains Open

KATY (Covering Katy News) – The portion of Westheimer Parkway that runs through George Bush Park remained open through the heavy rains on Friday night into Saturday morning.

George Bush Park is designed to flood to protect homes in Houston. Sometimes the water flows across Westheimer Parkway and causes the roadway to be closed.  That did not happen in this storm, but it came fairly close.

The video below was provided by Covering Katy reader Pela Agnes Giele. It was shot at about 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018.
