KATY (Covering Katy News) – Six minutes prior to the deadline, Katy’s longest-serving school board member decided to give up her Position 2 seat and run for Position 1, the seat being vacated by George Scott.
“This decision was made after deliberation with trusted advisors and influenced by community leaders and friends who expressed respect for both me and Lance Redmon,” Fox said in a statement to Covering Katy News. “Their disappointment that we were opponents echoed my own. Redmon and I share similar values for this community. It will be a distinct benefit to the district to have both Mr. Redmon and me serving on the school board. I love this district and this community; my actions and stances are always aimed at making it better.”
Outgoing board member Scott disagreed. He says Fox could not beat Redmon. He also said Redmon ran against Fox because he disagreed with her positions.
“Mrs. Fox made a calculated decision at the last minute to switch because it was in her best political interest to do so,” Scott said.

The change by Fox means Lance Redmon will run unopposed for Position 2, assuring his victory.
Now, the Position 1 race becomes a three-way contest between Fox, Donald “Duke” Keller, and Sean Dolan.
Fox and Scott may disagree, but what is undeniable is that now Fox, Keller or Dolan can win with far less than a majority of voters.
