No School in Katy on Friday – Weather Statement from Katy ISD

Dear Katy ISD Parents, Staff and Community,

Please be advised that all Katy ISD campuses and school facilities will be closed on Friday, August 25 due to hazardous weather conditions. While Hurricane Harvey has yet to touch ground in the Katy area, the National Weather Service is predicting an extreme weather event.  As such, we have chosen to err on the side of caution to ensure the safety and security of our students, families, staff and community. Likewise, we hope to provide parents with additional time to explore and identify their options for tomorrow (Friday) now that schools and facilities will be closed.

All before and after-school activities will be cancelled tomorrow (Friday) and throughout the weekend.  Teachers and non-essential employees should not report to work. Essential employees will be notified by their supervisor should they need to report to the District during regular school hours.

We will continue to monitor the weather and will provide an update on the status of Monday’s schedule by no later than Sunday evening.  Parents, staff and community members should also continue to monitor local media and the Katy ISD website for updates on school closings, event cancellations or changes in the forecast.
