FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy) – Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert has proclaimed the month of May 2017 as Older Americans Month. Fort Bend County is home to more than 153,000 citizens age 55 and older who have enriched the community through a lifetime of historical experiences.
Every year thousands of elderly citizens are victims of abuse and neglect. Judge Hebert commended two agencies – Adult Protective Services and Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels and Much, Much More – who recognize that older Americans in Fort Bend County are treasured resources to protect and revere.
Residents are encouraged to help by working to reduce abuse of people who are elderly and disabled, safeguard their rights, and improve their quality of life by increasing their opportunities to remain active and engaged in community life.
