FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Fort Bend News) – Fort Bend County Animal Services is offering no-cost spay/neuter services to eligible residents of unincorporated Fort Bend County in the absence of available services from the SNAP mobile clinic.
To participate in the program, residents will need to come to FBCAS during business hours to show the same proof of eligibility as used by the SNAP van: evidence of government program support (e.g. Medicaid, free school lunch program, CHIP, TANF, etc.) or identification of age of 65 years plus.
FBCAS will then issue a voucher to be presented to the veterinarians that are working with FBCAS for this program. With the help of FBCAS, the voucher recipient will schedule an appointment for the Spay/Neuter surgery at the veterinarian’s office. Procedures will include alteration surgery, insertion of the microchip, rabies vaccination and issuing a county registration tag for the animal. The animal owner will be responsible for dropping off and picking up their animal from the veterinarian’s facility.
Appointments for this program may be made by contacting FBCAS at 281-342-1512.
