CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News) – Katy High School football coach Gary Joseph has endorsed Chuck Brawner in his re-election race against former Katy police chief Bill Hastings.
“During Hurricane Harvey, Chuck was on our street and so many others checking with the families that had been flooded,” Joseph said. “He helped this city get cleaned up and debris removed in such a short amount of time. When the city needed him most, Chuck was there for us. He still is. That’s why I’m endorsing him to serve again as Mayor,” Joseph added.
Joseph is a beloved figure in the City of Katy. He became head coach of the Katy Tigers in 2004 and has helped lead the team to a 107-11 record during his tenure. The Tigers have qualified for the state quarterfinals in 2004, 2006, 2010 the state finals in 2005, 2009, and winning the 2007 5A State Division II Championship going 16-0. In 2008 after going thru a rough start the Tigers finished 13-3 repeating as State 5A State Division II Champions, defeating Wylie 17-3 winning the Gordon Wood Award.
“I committed to keep Katy on the right track when I ran for Mayor and we have worked tirelessly to make that happen, improving our public safety, our roads and drainage, our flood management systems, our way of doing business with city employees and with our contractors – all while staying within our budget and not increasing taxes,” Mayor Brawner said. “Katy is growing and we are managing the growth so that people love living here to raise their family. Katy is the best place to find a forever house and build a life and we want to keep it that way. I would be honored to serve one more term as Mayor of this wonderful city we call home.”
