CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News) – We now know more about the new Katy Rice Festival that is replacing the former Katy Rice Harvest Festival on the second weekend in October. A logo has been designed and the city has teamed up with a well-known partner to organize the event.

The City of Katy will team up with the Katy Rotary Club which will also be a co-sponsor of the festival. Previously, the Rice Harvest Festival was the major fundraiser for the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Rotary Club has a history of putting on large events like the Wild West Brew Fest and the Katy Triathlon at Firethorne. The Rotary Club plans to move the Triathlon within the city limits.  This year it will be held at Cane Island. It’s asked the city for a $75,000 grant to defray costs.
