CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News)—Mayor Chuck Brawner and his wife Marcy had some help in lighting the 45th annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Monday night in front of City Hall 901 Avenue C.
Actually, Santa Claus did more than help light the tree, or talk about the meaning of the Christmas holiday before the lighting of the tree. Between a crowd that might be estimated in the hundreds, and a pleasant evening with mild temperatures and clear skies, one might say that he brought gifts in advance of his Christmas Eve trip.
Ceremonies included performances by the Katy Youth Choir and a dance team from Juleigh Holley’s School of Dance, 27025 Highway Blvd.
Santa also remained after the ceremonies to visit with local youngsters.
Brawner said Santa would return for the 8th Annual Katy Old-Fashioned Christmas. The free family event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in downtown Katy.
