NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – A 70-year-old woman who kept a tight grip on her purse was dragged by a thief who quickly took the bag from the woman in her driveway one week ago.  The incident happened at the victim’s home in the Remington Grove neighborhood which is off FM 529 and Greenhouse Road.

“The victim unknowingly was followed to her home in the 19100 block of Saddleville Mills Lane after making a withdrawal from a nearby bank at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, July 6,” said a statement from Constable Ted Heap’s office. “When she arrived home and exited her car, a black male snuck up from behind, grabbed her purse, and ran,” the statement also said.

The victim’s 73-year-old husband and her son-in-law followed the suspect to a nearby gas station on FM 529. He got away after taking the contents of the purse and dropping the empty bag on the ground. He may have been driving a Mitsubishi according to investigators. The vehicle was white.

“The suspect is described as a heavy black male with dreadlocks. He was wearing shorts and a black shirt,” the constable’s office statement said.

The victim suffered scratches on her arms and legs. She was treated on the scene by Cy-Fair paramedics.
