HOUSTON — United Airlines has alerted the Texas Workforce Commission of its plan to eliminate about 100 accounting jobs in Houston.

The work will be handled by a contractor. It means that fewer people will work at United’s downtown Houston tower.

The company that will handle the accounting work was not identified.

United reportedly plans to provide its employees with job search assistance.

United has about 12-thousand employees in Houston. Twelve-hundred people work in the downtown tower. The rest of the employees are headquartered at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
