Port of Freeport CEO to Headline Fulshear-Katy Chamber January Meeting

FULSHEAR/KATY (Covering Katy News)  -Phyllis Saathoff, the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Freeport, will be the featured speaker at the January meeting of the Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce. The meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019.

Saathoff is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of service in the port industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, is a certified public accountant and a certified Professional Port Manager.

She began her maritime career at Port Freeport in 1992 serving as Managing Director and Interim Executive Port Director/CEO before joining the Port of Houston Authority in October 2012. Saathoff served in various capacities during her tenure at the Port of Houston Authority including, Chief People Officer and Deputy Executive Director of Corporate Affairs. She returned to Port Freeport in April 2016 as the Chief Executive Officer.

During her prior tenure at Port Freeport, Saathoff was successful in obtaining U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit to deepen the Freeport Harbor Channel to 55 feet and in financing and initiating the development of the Port’s first container terminal.

She has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Women in Gulf Transportation by Gulf Shipper Magazine. She has held leadership roles in several organizations including the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones and the Texas Gulf Ports Association. Phyllis currently serves as Chairwoman on the Port Authority Advisory Committee to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Transportation Policy Council, Vice President of Texas Ports Association and serves on the board of directors for the National Waterways Conference.

Saathoff is also actively engaged with other industry groups such as the American Association of Port Authorities. She serves on the board of directors and executive committee of the Economic Development Alliance of Brazoria County and as a member of the University of Houston – Clear Lake College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council.

Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce monthly member meeting meet and greet begins at 7:30 a.m.  The Jan. 9, 2019 meeting starts at 8 a.m. at the Parkway Fellowship 27043 FM 1093, Richmond, TX 77406. The meeting is open to the public and is free of charge.
