FULSHEAR (Covering Katy News) – Tex-Mex Restaurant Molina’s Cantina is coming to Fulshear in 2019, and if President George H.W. Bush were still alive that’s where he’d probably eat if visiting the area. Bush frequented one of Molina’s Houston locations and had his favorite menu items.
“He’d get a Berly’s Burrito and drink exactly 1.5 Modelo’s, splitting the second one,” said a Molina’s Facebook post.
The new Fulshear location will be at 6300 FM 1463, between the Westpark Tollway and Fry Road at the soon to be completed Shoppes at Cross Creek. The grand opening is expected in late 2019.
The location will be a 5800 square foot corner space with a patio and breezeway that will offer shade. It will accommodate 220 customers and have a full-service bar.

“We’re excited to join this growing community between Fulshear and Katy,” co-owner Ricardo Molina said. “With great schools and more families moving to this area, the growth has been phenomenal. We hope to fill a void for full-service family restaurants.”
Molina’s has been operating since 1941.
MOLINA’S BOOK AND SOCK DRIVE
The following is from the Molina’s web site:
Dec. 24 is the final day of Molina’s sock and book drive. The effort is in honor of President Bush, 41. Molina’s is accepting donations of new socks and new or gently used children’s books at it’s 7901 Westheimer Rd., Houston location until closing time Christmas Eve.
President Bush was known for joyfully donning brightly colored socks and as an ardent advocate of community service. To honor him, Molina’s will collect pairs of socks for local charity organizer Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston to distribute this winter to participants of its Meals on Wheels program. Books will be given to the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation to help families build home libraries. Donations will be accepted through the end of December.
The Molina family also invites you to wear your own colorful socks and raise a toast to George and Barbara, their long-time friends and patrons.
