KATY (Covering Katy News) – Katy area Lexus dealers will be busy in August because that’s when some Lexus owners will be receiving recall notices. About 115,000 vehicles are subject to the recall in the U.S. They are all equipped with a particular 3.5-liter V-6 engine that could catch fire.
Toyota Motor North America announced it will recall Lexus models including 2006-2013 Lexus IS 350 sedans, 2010-2014 Lexus IS 350C convertibles, 2007-2011 Lexus GS 350 mid-size sedans, and GS 450h vehicles.
According to Lexus, the diaphragm material in the fuel pulsation dampers may harden over time and crack, causing fuel to leak. The problem could result in a vehicle fire.
Lexus cars are made by the Toyota Motor Company. The same engine is used in some of the 2018 Camrys. Those vehicles were recalled earlier this year.
Lexus dealers will fix the problem for free. Owners simply need to present the recall notice at any Lexus dealership.
Vehicle owners can also look up their cars VIN to see if it’s part of the recall. nhtsa.gov/recalls.
