FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls has established a local number for anyone to call to provide information on human trafficking. The number is 281-341-3800. This hotline will be answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week and allows residents the opportunity to provide any information they may have so an investigation may be initiated.

“The FBI states Human Trafficking is believed to be the third largest criminal activity in the world,” said officials with the Sheriff’s Office. “The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office will aggressively pursue investigations of actions that are known to have relationships with human trafficking. In recent years, we have conducted investigations into and made arrests at businesses where illegal sex acts have taken place and always follow up on any reported human trafficking complaints.”

Nehls says residents have expressed their concern about human trafficking and though there are national hotlines available to report activity, many would feel more comfortable reporting information and concerns to a local resource.

“We encourage anyone who has information to report it and we will use every resource at our disposal to ensure that anyone involved in the despicable action of trafficking humans is brought to justice,” said Nehls.
