KATY (Covering Katy News) – Covering Katy News is making a change to its logo to recognize the growth of Fulshear. Where the logo used to say “Katy’s original digital news source,” it now says “The news of the Katy and Fulshear areas.”
“While the change may seem small, it’s large in what it represents,” said Covering Katy publisher Dennis Spellman. “Fulshear’s unique identity needs to be recognized, and that’s what we are doing.”
Fulshear’s city limits encompass 33,280 acres of prime realty according to the city’s website. Its current population is approximately 8,000, a 900 percent increase over an eight-year period, plus people who have a Fulshear address but may be in an unincorporated area.
There are now 3,000 families living in Cross Creek Ranch according to the city’s website. Some residents are zoned to the Katy Independent School District, but others are zoned to the Lamar Consolidated School District.
“We began as an operation that focused exclusively on news that’s within the boundaries of Katy ISD, but growth has forced our coverage area to expand. It makes sense that we include Fulshear in our logo,” Spellman said.
