KATY (Covering Katy News) – Legends Coffee & Café, is now open in Katy and is Fort Bend’s first all-day music café.
Located at 25707 Westheimer Parkway in Katy, the family-owned operation will be led by husband-and-wife Steve and Mickie Blackmon, as well as their daughter Teahra.
Once retired, Steve Blackmon began searching for a new project that would add value to the Katy community. He decided to combine his three passions – food, coffee, and classic rock music and that’s how the 2,500 square foot eatery began to blossom.
“It slowly became a family affair – once the seed was planted over a year ago, everyone in the family started to chime in with their ideas and wanted to be a part of Legends,” said Blackmon.

Blackmon has roasted his own coffee and delivered to colleagues in his corporate global semiconductor design & manufacturing job for decades.
Wife Mickie has been decorating the restaurant with some of her prized personal memorabilia, and daughters Reignie and Teahra have also been heavily involved in the interior design.
As the concept started to develop, the pair decided to recruit Mickie’s sister, a classically trained chef, Elizabeth Duncan to craft the menu and oversee the kitchen operations. Duncan also works for Memorial Hermann Hospital cultivating recipes and menus for the executives and staff.
Legends is more than a traditional coffee shop. They are set to deliver “third wave” specialty coffee which is sourced globally but roasted locally by bean type for an ultimate flavor experience.
Their menu will consist of an extensive coffee program including favorites like Cappuccino, flavored Lattes, Cold Brew and Nitro Coffee. They will also offer hot tea services, with tea provided by Rishi Organic Teas. The menu will have a variety of “fan favorite” food offerings like hot toasted sandwiches, deli-style sandwiches, paninis, flatbreads, soups, salads, breakfast tacos, biscuits, fresh scones, gelato, and smoothies. Select menu items are named after some of the owners’ favorite songs like “Hotel California,” “Born to be Wild,” and “Welcome to the Jungle.”
All offerings are made fresh to order with in house sliced deli meats and house-made sauces and spreads.
Local artists have already begun signing up to play at Legends. The café will primarily host intimate artist performances.
Confirmed artists include local favorites Smith Deville, and Megan Whitaker, who will be auditioning for NBC’s The Voice later this year.
Artists will perform inside the restaurant, or outside on their spacious patio area.
“We are dedicated to fostering an artistically appreciative community in Katy. We wanted to create an atmosphere for local musicians where they can come and express themselves for others to enjoy,” said Blackmon. Legends will also have a designated acoustic night and a full calendar of events for musicians and guests to follow.
