KATY (Covering Katy News) – Two more candidates have filed to run for positions on the Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees. There are now three candidates running for two seats on the board.
Attorney Scott Martin and Engineer Susan Gesoff are both running for Position 6. Businessman Don Massey is the only candidate to declare for Position 7 with the deadline for filing coming Friday. The candidate filing period opened on January 17 and ends at the close of business on February 16, 2018.
This year’s Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees race is somewhat unusual because there will be no incumbents. Current board members Charles Griffin and Brian Michalsky have both announced that they are not going to run for reelection. Griffin made a campaign promise to only serve two terms and Michalsky says his job has made it difficult for him to attend meetings.
Candidates can file in person by visiting the Katy ISD Education Support Complex. Those filing by mail should do so by sending their applications to Education Support Complex, Care of Justin R. Graham, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494.
