Seminar: Navigating the Special Education Process



KATY (Covering Katy News) – The Arc of Katy a non-profit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is providing a free presentation titled Navigating the Special Education Process April 25th 6:30 pm-8:00 pm at Kingsland Baptist Church, 20555 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, TX 77450 parking Area Entrance #3-Conference Room A for parents, family members, caregivers and school personnel.

Presented by Fred Shafer, Chairman of the Board for The Arc of Katy with 40 years of special education experience in the public school setting and Marchelle Peters who serves as an Instructional Officer for LIFE Skills and Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities for the Katy ISD Special Education Department.

The special education process can be very challenging. Participants will gain information on how to navigate through the special education process including evaluations, eligibility, IEP development, ARD meetings, and effective communication and collaboration with the school.
