KATY – The founding principal of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community’s school has been chosen.
Nicholas Morgan, Ed.D., has been selected by the parish search committee as the top candidate after months of interviewing candidates for the position.
Dr. Morgan has accepted the offer to begin the work of organizing the school and curriculum in preparation of the school’s opening.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the members of the Search Committee for their diligence and discernment of the numerous qualified candidates,” said Father Tom Lam.
Dr. Morgan began working at the parish on May 1, 2017.
Dr. Morgan wrote the following letter to Epiphany parishioners:
Dear parishioners of Epiphany,
Being named Principal of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic School is not only a privilege, but humbling as well. The Epiphany of the Lord Catholic community is known around the archdiocese as a delightfully warm and inviting parish, eager to grow and share our wonderful faith. In the coming weeks, I am looking forward to becoming part of this community, meeting all of you, and beginning this exciting journey.
Before coming to Epiphany of the Lord, I spent thirteen years in the teaching and school administrative worlds in both private and public schools. For the past year, I worked as an educational consultant, visiting schools all around the greater Houston area, writing a book about private schools, and helping families find the best school for their children. Before working as a consultant, I was the Principal of the Lower School & Early Childhood at The Regis School of the Sacred Heart for eight years, where I also taught, and coached soccer and track. I have taught almost every level from Kindergarten up through 8th grade. While teaching my passion was always in teaching reading, but as I began teaching older grades I found enjoyment in the logic of math, hands-on science, and exploring history.
As a native Houstonian, I attended Klein ISD public schools for elementary and middle school, before attending St. Thomas High School. I went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas A&M University, master’s degree in school administration from Sam Houston State University, and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Houston.
In my down time, I love spending time with my lovely wife of almost eleven years, my six-year-old son, and our new puppy. I enjoy training for and competing in multi-sport races/events, playing in a men’s soccer league, cooking, getting to the beach whenever I can, and being captivated by a good book.
My general approach to student and school progress is centered on a growth mindset framework. Through regular reflection and a constant desire to do things better, I will encourage and facilitate growth not only within the students, but within the faculty and staff, as well as myself. My greatest task is to provide the academic and spiritual leadership that will facilitate Epiphany of the Lord Catholic School to meet the academic needs of each student, develop each individual socially and emotionally, and facilitate spiritual growth in the hopes that Christ is revealed to each student. A true Epiphany, or revelation of the Lord to every student.
With your help, support, and prayers, I am confident we can make Epiphany of the Lord Catholic School a very special place in which we can all be proud. I look forward to meeting you in the coming months and am eager to begin this wonderful phase of our community. Thank you and God bless.
