KATY (Covering Katy News) The man who is accused of shooting a seven-year-old boy in the Katy area has now been charged by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit. Omarion Philip Bailey turned himself in to deputies late Thursday night. He is now being held under a $185,000 bond and has a court date of January 8, 2019.
Investigators say that 19-year-old Omarion Philip Bailey, shot into a vehicle that was driven by an 18-year-old male along with his 6 and 7-year-old brothers.
The shooting happened on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at around 2 p.m.
Bailey was driving a late model Dodge Stratos, when he saw a Cadillac Escalade at the corner of Fort Stanton and Grey Hawk near North Fry Road and Saums Road in the Katy area. Bailey is accused of shooting at the vehicle while it was stopped at the intersection. The 7-year-old was hit by gunfire in the upper back.
The child was driven to Katy Memorial Hermann Hospital and later transported by Life Flight to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston’s Medical Center. He is currently in good condition and is expected to make a full recovery. The other child and male in the Escalade were not hit by gunfire.
