WEST HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – Three veterans who were riding motorcycles in the Katy area were followed, knocked off their bikes and shot at during an early morning altercation in  the Barker’s Branch subdivision near the West Houston Airport. The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. Saturday on Sable Tree Drive at Barker’s Crossing Avenue.

The SUV sped past them and struck one of the motorcyclists, knocking him from the motorcycle,” said Capt. John Shannon of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “They ran over another motorcyclist,” he added.

The SUV stopped and three men got out and started shooting at the bikers according to Shannon. Two of the bikers were struck. One man was shot in the torso and the other in the buttocks.

“They have been transported to area hospitals,” Shannon said.

The third motorcyclist was also transported to the hospital.  He suffered scrapes and is cooperating with investigators.

The gunmen escaped. All three are white but the detectives had no additional information about them. They were driving a gold colored SUV.

We asked Shannon if it was a case of road rage. He said it was too early in the investigation to know the motive.

The shooting happened in a neighborhood. Detectives believe some residents may have surveillance cameras that captured the crime.
