WEST HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) – It’s not unusual to see or hear motorcycles screaming along roads, freeways and feeder roads in the Katy area. Deputies from Constable Ted Heap’s Office caught and arrested a motorcyclist after a high-speed chase through West Houston on Saturday night.
Kaiwen Xu, 30, was traveling in a pack of speeding motorcycles when he raced away from a Precinct 5 patrol car at approximately 11 p.m. in the 8000 block of the Katy Freeway. That section of the Katy Freeway is close to the 610 West Loop.
Xu was weaving in and out of traffic at speeds faster than 110 miles per hour with the deputy following at a safe distance. Due to the high speeds and danger to the public, the deputy backed off the pursuit, only to spot Xu’s motorcycle again on the Katy Freeway a short while later.
Xu exited the freeway near I-10 and Wilcrest, where the deputy was able to cut him off and arrest him without further incident. He has been booked on felony charges of evading arrest.
