KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – Brandon Manwiller, 29, of Altoona, Iowa has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a stabbing on the Grand Parkway feeder road, near the Cinemark Theater at about 4 a.m. Sunday. According to a court document, prosecutors say the deadly weapon was a knife and that Manwiller purposely stabbed his victim.
It’s not known what led to the stabbing but deputies say the men knew each other. They were not strangers and appear to have a history of previous incidents. There is a restraining order in the court file, but the document that is currently available has not yet been signed by a judge. It could be an indication that prosecutors will be asking for the restraining order at Manwiller’s next court appearance which is set for November 8, 2018.
The Sheriff’s Office was not providing many details on the crime when we contacted them Tuesday afternoon. There was a Houston newspaper report that claimed both Manwiller and the victim were stabbed. The Sheriff’s Office maintains that’s not true. A spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office says there was only one person who was stabbed.

“This is still an open/active investigation,” spokesperson Tebben Lewis told Covering Katy News.
Lewis did not provide any information on why there was an older model Chevy Tahoe at the scene. Crime scene tape kept our camera from getting close to the SUV which had its hood up and a towel was blocking the view of the back seat.
“EMS responded to a 27-year-old male that told personnel a known 29-year-old male stabbed him,” Deputy Thomas Gilliland told Covering Katy News on Sunday morning. “The male was transported to a Katy area hospital in critical but stable condition,” Gilliland said.
