HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was shot Tuesday night at about 5:15 p.m. in the 6700 block of Highwind Bend Lane which is near North Fry Road and FM 529. He is Efrain Aguilar according to Tricia Bentley of the Harris County  Institute of forensic sciences.

The autopsy on Aguilar, 33, was still being conducted when Covering Katy spoke with Bentley so we do not yet have an official cause of death, but he was shot in the abdomen, according to local reports.

The shooting reportedly happened after an argument over a parked car. The alleged shooter was taken into custody by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. After being questioned he was released.

“The case will be referred to the grand jury,” said Tebin Lewis of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

While the Sheriff’s Office is not calling this a case of self-defense, they appear to be handling it that way because there have been no charges, yet they are putting the facts in the hands of a grand jury.

Several witnesses were questioned. At this point there have been no arrests.
