HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) – Three law enforcement officers who were recently wounded while attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant continue to recover. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. James Smejkal was shot during the Dec. 11 incident and he spoke about those injuries in a video posted below.
The shooting happened in Northeast Harris County. Two agents from the Texas Attorney General’s Office were also wounded. One of them was shot eight times and the other was shot in the leg.
Doctors at Ben Taub Hospital saved Smejkal’s fingers during surgery after the shooting but the 9mm bullet remains in his lower arm and a metal plate was implanted to hold his shattered bones together.
