Driver Flees After Striking 5-year-old boy near Katy area – VIDEO

NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – A five-year-old boy was hit by a pickup truck near the Katy area on Friday night.  The driver fled and the boy needed to be transported to the hospital by air.  The boy was crossing the street when the truck rounded the corner and struck him.

“The child was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann,” said Deputy Blake Bondurant.  “He sustained a broken arm and broken leg. He’ll be ok,” Bondurant added.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the hit and run crash at about 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018.

The neighborhood where the incident happened is off Greenhouse Road near Keith Harrow Boulevard. The subdivision is near Cypress Lakes High School, close to the intersection of Amelia Plantation Drive and Plantation Myrtles Drive.

“The driver faces a charge of failure to stop and render aid which is a felony,” Bondurant said.
